How We Work

Three approaches. One philosophy. Real, measurable change.

A mother sits in our office at the end of a long week. Her 10-year-old has had three meltdowns in five days. She’s read the books. Tried the timeout charts. “I love him. I just don’t know how to be his mom anymore.”

A father, in a different chair, finally says out loud what he has been saying inside his own head for ten years. The thoughts loop. They won’t stop.

A young woman, in another room, has spent two years describing what is wrong with her life. She is exhausted by it. She wants to talk about something else.

Three different people. Three different needs. Three different methods. The match between approach and person is part of what makes therapy actually work.

Behavioral Parent Training (BPT)

Transform your parenting. Transform your family.

BPT, also called Parent Management Training, is an evidence-based approach that empowers parents to support behavioral change in their children.

The mechanism is reinforcement learning. Children’s behavior is shaped, predictably, by what gets rewarded, what gets ignored, and what is modeled. BPT teaches parents to read those signals and adjust their own responses, because parents are the most effective agents of change in a child’s life.

The mother in the first chair leaves with new tools and a way of seeing her son she did not have when she walked in.

Children flourish when connection, not correction, is at the center of family life.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Change your thinking. Change your experience.

CBT is a practical, research-based approach that helps individuals understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another.

The mechanism is direct. Thoughts produce feelings. Feelings drive behavior. Behavior reinforces the thoughts. Most patterns of suffering are some version of that loop running on autopilot. CBT interrupts the loop at the cognitive level, which is the leverage point we can actually access in real time.

The father in the second chair learns to slow the loop. Not by silencing his thoughts, but by noticing them, naming them, and choosing what to do next.

Highly structured but flexible. Our clinicians integrate DBT, ACT, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and Interpersonal Therapy as the work requires.

The way you see your life shapes the way you experience it.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Focus on what’s working. Build from there. Small shifts can create profound change.

SFBT is a goal-oriented, collaborative approach designed to help clients identify practical pathways toward change.

The mechanism is attentional. Where attention goes, energy follows. By directing attention to exceptions, the moments when a problem feels less powerful or more manageable, we help the client locate the conditions under which they already function better.

The young woman in the third room finally gets to talk about what is going right. Not as a forced positive. As a starting point. The therapy works forward from there.

When you focus on possibilities, you expand your opportunities.

One Practice. Three Mechanisms.

Different problems respond to different methods. Our clinicians choose the tool that fits the moment, sometimes one approach, sometimes a deliberate blend, always tailored to who is sitting across from us.

That is what Learn, Grow, Thrive looks like in practice.
