Some Things Are Easier to Carry With Others
There’s work that happens best one-on-one. And there’s work that happens best in a room with people who already understand, because they’re carrying something like it too.
A group is not a diluted version of therapy. For the right person, at the right moment, it’s the more powerful room. You hear your own experience in someone else’s words. You practice being seen. You learn that you were never the only one.
purepsych runs small, closed therapeutic groups – a fixed set of members who move through the work together, start to finish, in a space built to feel safe enough to be honest.
How Our Groups Work
Every group is closed and small. Closed means the same people all the way through, so trust has room to build. Small means you’re a person in the room, not a face in a crowd.
Groups meet in Westfield or Livingston. Each runs for a set number of weeks, with the day and time arranged around the people who join.
Our current groups are led by Amanda Hudes, Behavior Change Specialist and Health Counselor, a Clinical Counseling Intern at purepsych working under the supervision of Dr. Bryan Niederman.

The Groups We Offer
Our groups change with the season and with who’s ready for the work. Each one is built for a specific group of people at a specific moment. Here’s what’s running and forming now.
Female Empowerment
A group for women building self-trust and confidence, and learning to loosen the grip of outside judgment. The work is about coming home to yourself, and being able to say, and mean, this is who I am.
Moving on from Relational Trauma – Recent
For women recently out of a relationship or major life transition that left a mark. You may still be in the fog, unsure of the next step, but you know you’re ready for something more. This group is a place to set down the stress and uncertainty and be met by others who’ve been where you are.
Moving on from Relational Trauma – Rebuilding
For women who have moved on emotionally but still feel stuck, unsupported, or overwhelmed, and are ready to do more than cope. This group is for the next stage: not just surviving what happened, but building what comes next.
If you’re drawn to this work but think one-on-one might fit you better, our Relational Health & Recovery therapy offers the same focus in individual sessions with a licensed clinician. Some people do one, some move from group to individual or the reverse. We’ll help you find the right room.
